Fall is the best time of the year because all the birds start FLUFFING THEMSELVES UP. 

I was in fact That Person taking DSLR shots of pigeons at a major tourist site in Spain last year. But look at that pigeon!! Look how round!! I’m always astounded by the variety in pigeon colors in Europe; when they were introduced to the US, there must not have been as much variation in the starting population.

man I miss british songbirbs, all the finch-shaped ones made such perfect tiny spheres when things got chilly. I guess I have juncos and sparrows here, but that's not nearly as fun as the reams and reams of entertainment one gets taxonomising tits...

I went to the UK last year and there were SO MANY birds that I just ... didn't recognize at all? It was so interesting! I do love sparrows though. The ones here will chatter away shaking the bush until you get close and then go dead silent lol like I still see you there!! You are not sneaky!!
